Lab And/Or Field? Measuring Personality Processes and Their Social Consequences

How can researchers study personality processes and their social consequences? In our methodology overview, we first introduce ambulatory assessment methods, which repeatedly measure experiences, physiology and behaviour in people's daily lives based on real–time assessments of self–reports, physiological activity and behavioural observations. The present study has investigated how fear-of-death activation affected consumer food product choices. Undergraduate students (N = 130; Mage = 22.7; Meage = 21) differing on the conscious fear of death level participated in this study. The participants were divided into two experimental and one control groups. In first experimental group fear of death was induced by asking the participants to read an euthanasia story, in second experimental group by asking them to picture their own death. Psychometric Properties of an Emotional Adjustment Measure

Item response theory (IRT) provides valuable methods for the analysis of the psychometric properties of a psychological measure. However, IRT has been mainly used for assessing achievements and ability rather than personality factors. This paper presents an application of the IRT to a personality measure. Thus, the psychometric properties of a new emotional adjustment measure that consists of a 28-six graded response items is shown. Factorial Structure and Psychometric Properties of the Sensation Seeking Scale – Form V (SSS-V) in a Sample of Italian Adolescents

The present study was designed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Sensation Seeking Scale – Form V (SSS-V) for the Italian-speaking population. The instrument was administered to 1,530 high school and college students. A second group of 268 high school students completed the SSS-V and the Impulsiveness Questionnaire (IVE). Exploratory factor analysis highlighted a 2-factor structure, Thrill and Adventure Seeking (TAS) and Disinhibition (Dis). Confirmatory factor analysis revealed an adequate model fit. Research Note: A Cross-Cultural Validation of Brand Personality Scales in Norway

Cross-cultural non-replicability of brand personality dimensions is undoubtedly a concern for researchers. This research note assesses the validity of two brand personality measurement scales presented by Aaker (1997) and Geuens et al. (2009) in Norway. Confirmatory factor analysis results revealed that, compared to Aaker (1997), Geuens et al.’s (2009) measurement model performs better in the Norwegian context. Overall, the paper illustrates the need for more rigorous reliability assessments when researchers adopt brand personality dimensions in studies outside the US.
